Why I Founded Wired 4 Sound & Video
Hi, I’m Kevin Smith, owner of Wired 4 Sound & Video, LLC. When I started this business in 2005, I wanted to do something innovative that I did not see with other AV installation and design companies in the area.
Other Installers Wouldn’t Do The Whole Job
Many companies would only handle the install of the equipment as well as the wiring. But if there were additional needs, such as electrical outlets, wire relocations or drywall repair work, they left it to you as the customer to take care of these items on your own. You would have to hire multiple contractors to do all this before scheduling the install.
Worse, They Performed Inferior Work
I also heard too many horror stories about installers who didn’t know or didn’t care that other services were needed, leaving home or business owners like you with unexpected costs. I heard about inexperienced installers who used inferior or poorly designed mounting hardware for big flatscreen TVs. In some cases, they would come to your home more interested in selling you other services than doing what you hired them to do.
I decided that wasn’t good enough.
That’s when I took my passion for wiring and electronics and founded Wired 4 Sound and Video.

3 Red Flags in the Electronics Installation Industry
1. Many big box stores don’t have their own installers.
When you buy equipment from a big box store and hire them to perform these installation services, the installers who come to your home or business may not even work for the store. They are subcontracted and often inexperienced. The level of service they provide is often substandard, and the results can be disastrous for you and your investment.
2. Subcontractors often can’t do the whole job, and that costs you.
The installers sent by the big box store are paid a bare minimum to provide a bare minimum of service. They will hang your flatscreen TV. But they typically will not hook it up to your sound system, run cables inside the wall, install electrical outlets, connect your smart TV or streaming device to your home wireless network, etc. You will need to make several calls to get everything done and spend far more than you thought you would.
3. Handymen who don’t specialize in audio/visual equipment may not be prepared to accurately quote the job.
There are good handymen out there who you can hire to reliably mount a flatscreen TV. Those who don’t specialize in sound and video equipment, however, may not offer fully comprehensive service. The fee they quote might not include surround sound integration, or specialty equipment like articulating mounts, media distribution or remote controls. That means added work for the installer and unwelcome pricing surprises for you.
